Adventures in the Snow

Last week, I had the pleasure of going on a road trip to the snow with my fellow Huntress sisters. Being located in the Bay Area, snow is not a thing we see unless we specifically go looking for it. Plan we did, and off we went.

We decided to drive up to Big Trees Park in Calaveras, CA, which is about 2.5 hours from where we are, and we made a day of it. We had planned to go to Tahoe, or some other known snowy location, though this one popped up on the radar the Monday before. Naturally, it was an instantaneous 'Yes!'. Calaveras is a full hour closer than Tahoe could have been, which meant more play time and less road time. Also, Big Trees hosts a large grove of Sequoias and other large trees. There are fallen trees that you can climb on and otherwise admire, and somewhere in the park is a tunneled tree that you can walk through - we didn't get to see it on this trip though. We spent a good amount of time ogling the stumps, and fitting into crevices while admiring that all four of us fit. All of the trees there seemed unreal, the below photo is a panoramic - it was the only way to see the whole tree in one shot.

We walked around some and then went off and did ritual. While we were wandering off to find a spot that we liked, we were surrounded in a winter wonderland. The snow covering the forest floor looked like a cotton blanket designed for the movies, it was so fluffy, untouched by humans.

We put together a quiet ritual for our trip, petitioned the goddess to aide in our manifestations, and to protect the people. Doing ritual in the wilderness like this is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives. I have no words to describe how feral I felt, how wonderful it was.
