Best Virtual Tours

Katie Bourque wrote up an awesome list over at Good Housekeeping, and rather than butchering her hard work – I figured I’d select a few favorites, and send you to her list for the rest:

Here’s a second article compiled by Anne Goldsmith for Town & Country Magazine. This one isn’t in a list format, but does link to some awesome cultural sites, and symphonies.

& Field Trips

Through a delightful message from a young reader, I was shown this article from Carly Hallman. Carly really did some excellent research and has put together a list that I’m basically importing onto my Bucket List, haha. Here’s my notable favorites:

Other Free Tours and Offerings

Katie has an amazing list, and Anne has such a robust article, but there’s been a few other things that I’ve seen that I wanted to capture as well:

In another reader submission worth bookmarking, Engaging and Educational Virtual Tours and Activities for Kids from Pre-K to Grade 8 maintained by Sarah Perowne, we have a wide variety of online opportunities including space and deep sea exploration. Some of the standout links for me were:

  • Google Arts and Culture’s Open Heritage site, where aspiring heritage consultants, archeologists, or historians can explore thousands of global heritage sites.

  • The Space Center Houston has a free interactive mobile app that features many NASA immersive experiences.

  • As well as the Amazon Future Engineer site which has free courses for young learners of all ages.

Even more Exploration from readers:

Something for Body and Mind

While all of the tours, and panda cam’s, and shows, are great, there’s also been a host of chef’s offering cooking videos, and some fitness coaches offering free workouts:

  • Laura Tempest Zakroff has a YouTube channel, and has started offering a daily “Witchual Workout”, along with her regular “6 Minutes of Witchcraft”, and ritual dances.

  • Yoga with Adriene is a popular favorite by many, not just myself. She has a YouTube channel, and runs a monthly themed calendar. I have found her practice to be gentle, and she offers good tips on modifications.

  • TheWkout has dozens of HIIT workout videos on YouTube. I’ve watched many people transform themselves in many ways after working out with Lisa Marie.

  • Here’s an article with a few other workout and yoga options by Sophie Lewis for CBS News

  • Also, two Portland chef’s are offering free cooking tutorials

Books Around the Web

  • The BBC wrote about the book Names of the Witches (in Scotland) 1658, back in 2016. The article itself is worth the read, it’s informative and all around fascinating.

  • The Wellcome Library has a massive digital collection, mainly focused on medical history—they have a growing collection around contemporary medicine and biomedical science.

  • Want to give the gift of reading, but don’t know what to get your loved one? A gift card is never a bad idea! Support local bookstores online with Bookshop.

  • If you do know what you’re looking for, you can enter the title below:

Curated book lists

For both the magical and the mundane, I’ve put together some lists of books that I would recommend, that come highly recommended from trusted colleagues, and generally books that just look and sound cool. I’ve even put together a list of Witchy Tools, as well as Puzzles & Games!
