Witch
Hi, I’m Temperance, and it’s such a pleasure to meet you on this journey. The first time I found this word that so perfectly explained how I interacted with the world, I was 9—and it was life-changing. I studied every little bit I could, tucked in the back of libraries, and searching where I could online (in the late ‘90s and early ’00s, there wasn’t much). I didn’t really start my solitary practice until I was about 15, and it wasn’t until I was 23 that I started to make the changes to live every moment of my day as magically as I was able. I walk a highly eclectic path. Drawn to kitchen witchery, and hedge witchery alike, I practice what feels right.
Now, a full decade later, I am paving the way to be able to give back to this community that has already given me so much. Underneath everything, I am a witch—that is my baseline. I’m so much more than that, though. I’m a mother, a partner, a lover, a negotiator, a scheduler…I am anything and everything my family needs me to be. I have also spent all of these years honing my technical skills, working in a corporate environment, and learning on a daily basis how highly complex systems work. There is magic in being able to figure things out, and there is much wisdom to be had in learning new things. I am devoted to a life of learning; knowledge is power, and that, too, is magic.
Diviner
I bought my first tarot deck when I was still in high school, and slowly became familiar with it as I pulled cards for myself. I didn’t start reading for others until 2010, when I met 2 of my closest friends. Since then, I have offered readings in ritual, as part of my Priestess work, as well as part of Psychic Fairs. Reading the cards comes quite effortlessly as I tap into the channel for connecting with my higher self, as well as those for whom I’m reading. I want to help people, and being able to deliver messages for someone’s highest good is one of my most treasured pleasures.
I’ve always been highly-intuitive, regularly able to see through what others may miss. I have been told a number of times that I have a very calming presence, and that it’s easy to open up to me about things that have never before been said out loud. This is a gift, and I believe that I have a responsibility to this gift to share it with the wider community. Pulling crystal clear messages with my cards, and generally talking through what’s going on on a human level, can have much healing for one’s soul.
Crafter
I enjoy making things. I like to tinker, I absolutely love to bake, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring things out. Getting my hands dirty in crafty and creative ways is one of the best ways to make a mess. I have made custom incense blends, sugar scrubs, bath blends, and more. When I get the call to do or make a magic, I am magnetized to the ingredients like a moth to a flame. Not only do I enjoy witch crafts, I also love fibre crafts. I picked up knitting and crocheting many, many moons ago. My favorite thing to make are amigurumi stuffies, they’re small and adorable - and my kids love them!
My crafting skills go beyond making tangible objects, I also really enjoy crafting experiences. Having spent so many years cultivating very specific, technical skills, I’m now taking all of that and transforming it so that I can help other makers in the LGBTQ+ and Pagan/Nature Path communities. A healer by nature, helping people has always been a motivator in my life. Acknowledging the privilege I’d had in being able to develop professional skills, I want to live the rest of my life using them to help other people in marginalized communities to receive equitable access to a techie who knows what it’s like to live a life outside of the box.
