Singing with Sisters

Some of the purest magic I have ever witnessed was in a room, singing with my sisters. Drumming, humming, clapping, singing, dancing, moving, flowing... their bodies alive with joy and bliss in that one, simple moment

To see your world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower. To hold infinity in the palm of your hand, An eternity in an hour.
-William Blake.

A full body experience, there is nothing I can think of that’s better than being in a room full of your chosen family, especially when you’re making magic. How many times I’ve sat around a dinner table, the night of the full moon, with the moon itself shining a beam of light upon us, and we started singing and instantly we were happier.

Last week I was in the mood to listen to something upbeat that makes me want to dance, but I didn’t want my usual playlist, Women of Pop, so I turned on another favorite, Laboratorium Pieśni. I turned the volume up, and then listened to them all day while I was puttering about the house and working on the website. The first time I came across their music, it was this video, and it was the first time I was able to evoke that same feeling of being in the same room with my sisters, singing and dancing.

Yesterday, one of my dear friends shared The Wailin’ Jennys song One Voice. Commenting, “Someday, though it feels far away right now, we will sing together again.” And it’s so perfectly true! With the full moon tonight, I can’t help but recall Somewhere Out There from An American Tale. I know that when I stand before my altar tonight, I’ll be standing at the same threshold as those that I love. That the magic I choose to weave will intertwine with everyone else’s, as we manifest our desires.

Where is the moon when the moon is new
It's a sliver on the right growing bigger every night
Where is the moon when the moon is round
Rising as the sun is going down
Where is the moon when the moon is waning
Fading to the left 'til there's no moon remaining
